I am Kevin Jordan’s college baseball coach at Wake Forest University. August 25th, 2010 was Kevin’s first day of class as a freshman student. Normally, that alone would be the most noteworthy event of an 18 year olds life. For Kevin, however, his first class at Wake wasn’t even the most noteworthy event of the day. It was also the day he and his parents were told “Kevin will need a kidney transplant”. Up to…
Geoff registered to be an Organ Donor when he received his Driver’s License at the age of 18. He died by suicide and was able to donate his corneas, heart valve, bone and tissue. His corneas provided sight to a 45 year-old woman and a 70 year-old man. His other donations are unknown, but his heart valve most likely saved the life of a child and his bone and tissue donations may have healed as…
Mike proudly served his country in the Army’s “Proud Americans” 6th Howitzer Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery Unit. While stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, he served as an honor guard. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1967, and returned in 1968, always speaking with pride about his service in the military. Not only was he my husband, he was my soul mate, the love of my life, and my best friend. He was charming, very loving,…
I’m a living kidney donor for my father George Wero. Being a living donor and what that means to me, by the grace of God I have been able to enjoy years of my father’s companionship. It’s been ten years and counting since my kidney donation. What a small gesture of “paying it forward,” knowing I have given the gift of time, for others to share. This gift of time is not only from me,…
The story of Shawn Wero. Yes, plain and simple…Shawn was very informal, impromptu and carefree. Shawn was a giving person, he loved life to the fullest. He was a hard worker and a fun worker. He was gentle, strong and talented. All these qualities clearly reflected the beautiful human being his love ones adored about him and will cherish. Shawn started his formal education in Bloomfield, New Mexico. His childhood years, through his memorable teen…
Adam, Jr was a smart, loving, and caring son, brother, and grandson. He had a heart of gold. He was the first child to his mom, Terri, and he was the light of her life! He is forever missed. He was a ray of sunshine to everyone. Adam was a giver, and it was a choice he made when he was seven, that if he ever passed, he wanted to be a donor.
Our sweet little Zoe gave the gift of life to others, as she left us here missing her daily. She was a beautiful, smart little girl who loved just being a toddler!! She laughed, smiled and squealed just to get people to laugh with her. She was a precious little girl and now our forever Angel.
On January 29th 1991 my boy came hurrying into this world, 2 months ahead of schedule. In his entire life he never slowed down, always in a hurry, always on the go, talking a mile a minute with an adorable little lisp. Just listening to him talk could make you smile. He never sat still and would even eat while walking around the table in circles. The only time he would sit still was to…
