When Steven was 16 we had the donor discussion. I had worked in the field of transplant as a director of a tissue bank for over 10 year’s.
When I asked Steven what his wishes were, he said to me, “mom you don’t even have to ask, you know there is only one answer”.
Steven, was the kindest, loving young man. He would do anything for someone in need. On September 22nd 2007, Steven tragically lost his life.
That day changed our lives forever, it also changed the lives of 80 complete strangers who through Steven’s generosity were able to received his donated tissues for transplant.
Steven was 26 years old. He had a 17 month old baby girl, Alexia and his fiancee was 7 months pregnant with their second baby girl, Stevie.
Steven was my youngest of two sons.
Not a day goes by that we don’t think about Steven and his heroic act of giving, his beautiful daughter’s know him well through our shared memories of him and they are so proud of their daddy.
