Nalyssa had a beautiful soul, and a contagious smile that would light up any room she entered. She has three older brothers, who she enjoyed spending time with, and when she couldn’t physically be with them she would FaceTime them. She was loved by all who met her because of her caring, compassionate, and loving spirit.
Nalyssa’s incident occurred on December 12, 2024, where she suffered a severe head injury, along with several other serious injuries. She was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where the doctors did everything they could to save her. Unfortunately, on December 20, 2024, the doctors informed us that due to the severity of her injuries there was nothing more they could do to help her recover. It was at this point that Nalyssa’s brothers made the courageous and selfless decision to donate her organs.
We were blessed to spend 10 days with her, which we will always cherish. While we were grieving our greatest loss, five families received the miracle they had been praying for. Nalyssa’s heart was transplanted to an 11 year old male, her lungs were transplanted to a 62 year old female, her liver was transplanted to a 54 year old female, her right kidney was transplanted to a 45 year old female, and her left kidney was transplanted to a 49 year old female.
We pray for the day we are blessed to meet the recipients of Nalyssa’s organs.
