Mary Jo (Martin) Gase, 44, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, from a brain aneurysm at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Mary was born on March 21, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Sandra (Broz) Martin. She graduated from Capri Cosmetology College in 1986 and was a cosmetologist and master designer at J.C. Penney’s for 25 years. Mary was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed making cookies, which were enjoyed by all her family and friends. She found joy in watching her son’s racing and her daughter’s many sports activities. Mary enjoyed exercising and was an independent sales consultant for Xango. She had a strong faith and was always giving to others; so giving, that she donated her organs to save the lives of others.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Ashley Gase; son, Joseph Gase all of Cedar Rapids; her parents, George and Sandra Martin of Norway; eight siblings, Connie (Brad) Wisnousky of Fairfax, Don (Cari) Martin of Norway, Dean (Carole) Martin of Solon, Shelly (Gary) Zaugg of Watkins, Renee (Chad) Reedich of Cedar Rapids, Matt (Holly) Martin of Norway, John (Ashley) Martin and Amanda Martin, all of Cedar Rapids; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
