Courtney Jo Sister
Courtney Jo Sister
At only 22 years old the life of Courtney Jo Sister was cut short. It was December 10, 2006, just a few days before her birthday. It was a day that meant so much to Courtney Jo. She had been given a ticket to see her beloved football team, the Houston Texans play at Reliant Stadium.
Courtney was a free spirited young lady that was not afraid to walk into a room with strangers, let alone Reliant Stadium to be among 70,000 screaming football fans, it was just who she was.
A talented artist, Courtney loved to draw using any type of pen or pencil she could get her hands on. She had a true gift of putting her feelings into words and was an avid journal keeper and had dreams of becoming a lawyer.
Just a few days before her passing, Courtney made her mother a card that read, Mom I love you with all of my heart. A card her mother holds very near to her heart as a reminder of her daughters generosity.
The Sister family acknowledges they knew very little about organ donation, prior to losing Courtney, even though one of their own loved ones had received a liver transplant a few years earlier.
Courtney knew that she wanted to be a donor and told her mother that if anything happened to her she wanted to give the gift of life so that others may live.
Courtney was described by everyone that knew her as a beautiful person inside and out, but she was best known for her generosity. She worked as a waitress at a local Mexican Restaurant and was known for donating a warm meal everyday to a local homeless woman that often begged for food near the restaurant. That was just the kind of person Courtney was, a giver in life and even after.
