I am the biological mother of donor, Allyiah Elizabeth Asher, who was born on July 8, 1996 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was killed in a horrific car accident that took her life on October 5, 2012, in Austin, Texas. Allyiah was only 16 years old.
She had a lot of emotional issues she was dealing with, which stemmed from an abusive childhood. She was my amazingly beautiful girl who had a lot to offer this world if only she had lived. She has four brothers and a sister who miss her tremendously.
Allyiah was a very artistic girl who had an abundance amount of love in her heart. She trusted everyone without thinking they could hurt her and was always bringing kids home to me who needed a place to stay for the night. She would tell them how much their parents loved them and that it would be okay if they would just try to trust their families as much as they trusted their friends. She told them it would be okay and if they ever needed her, she would be there for them no matter what.
Allyiah had an amazing ability to make you laugh even when you didn’t want to and was always trying to protect those she cared for and loved. She was very good with other children who were younger than herself and tried to help a lot of teens her age with their daily troubles. She thought she could get other kids to see that life wasn’t as bad as they thought once they stopped fighting with everything and abiding by the rules, which were only normal.
She told me that night before she left to meet her friends, “Momma, I am done with getting into trouble, it’s not worth it. I’ll be back later.” She hugged me and said, “I love you!”
That night she didn’t come home.
My daughter overcame a lot of adversity in her young life. She was able to give of herself so others could live. I am thankful I was able to help with that gift!
