Megan Terrell says she knew from the moment she fell in love with her then boyfriend, nearly 20 years ago, and he told her he would eventually need another kidney transplant that SHE would be the one. Her response was “simple” as she wholeheartedly said “It’s ok, you can have mine!!” Those of us involved in transplant world know how heroic that “simple” statement truly is, but to Megan, now Justin’s loving and selfless wife, it was just what she was meant to do. The story has many twists and turns, of course, and Megan was devastated to learn, when the time came, that she was not a match for Justin. However, undaunted and determined, Megan learned she WAS a match for a young woman in Georgia and thus began the brilliant donor chain on May 16, 2023 at Shands in Gainesville FL – between Stormi to Justin and Megan to Cheyenne. United forever “The Fantastic Four” as they call themselves are about to celebrate 3 healthy years!! Megan and Justin have two incredible girls and a “normal” life filled with love and laughter. Her selfless act of love resulted in saving not one life but two, as well as allowing others to move up on that transplant waiting list. All because she knew in her heart, from the very beginning, she was “the one!” Megan is a shining example of what organ donation means and how one unwavering and heroic “yes” can change the lives of so many others.
