Kaci Alvarado
Kaci Alvarado
Kaci is an altruistic living kidney donor who jokes that she gave away her kidney at the quick lube. Kaci fell so in love with transplantion through her donation that she went to nursing school and now works for LifeGift in Family Care. Her journey from donor to advocate, and from nurse to Family Care Specialist, shows a dedication that goes beyond the ordinary. Finding a true passion, Kaci turned a selfless act into a lifelong mission, using every avenue she could find to raise awareness for donation. She claims “adult-onset athleticism” and has fun spreading transplant awareness through cycling, roller skating, kayaking, and hiking.
It’s not just about the physical activities she engages in; it’s about the message she carries with each pedal stroke, each roll, each paddle, and each step on the trails. She’s not just promoting organ donation; she’s living proof of its impact and the ripple effect of generosity. Her “adult-onset athleticism” isn’t just a personal challenge; it’s a platform. Through her blog and social media, she’s inviting others to join the conversation and be part of something bigger. Every time she shares her experiences, whether it’s a serene moment on the lake or the thrill of conquering a new trail, she’s also sharing the importance of organ donation. She is living proof that life doesn’t just go on after donation; it thrives.
As she trains for the Transplant Games of America, she’s not just preparing for a competition; she’s carrying the torch for donors and recipients alike. It’s a celebration of life that we are a part of, and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her story isn’t just about giving away a kidney; it’s about giving others a chance at life, and in the process, finding her own calling.
Her narrative is a blend of humor, passion, and advocacy. It’s about finding joy in the journey and purpose in the path each of us has chosen. Her tale is one of transformation, not just for herself but for the countless lives she touches. She’s a living kidney donor, a nurse, an athlete, and above all, a champion for a cause that’s close to her heart as big as the great state of Texas that she loves!
