Brittany Hoover
Brittany Hoover
Brittany Kate Hoover was born on June 21, 1989. She was 32 when she and her family began our walk with Lifenet. She grew up in Virginia Beach with one little sister. She was loving, kind, and giving girl.
Brittany, in 2nd grade, gave her shoes away because her friend loved them. She was an awesome soccer player in high school and assistant coach for little league. She also volunteered at the senior center in the office. Each day bringing smiles and jokes to all she helped. Her first job was with our family floral business with her loving grandparents. She helped teach classes and knew all the flowers names at 5 years old. She was accepted into Job Corp and worked learning life skills.
Brittany was always an animal lover, taking horseback lessons, and helping with feeding and cleaning stalls. But her love was always cats. She was passionate about finding stray cat’s home. She adopted Chance and they were best buddies.
Brittany lived in Lynchburg, Va when we learned of her cardiac arrest 04/26/22. She was employed by Food Lion where she made meaningful friendships. She was a hard worker, passionate, and always willing to do more than asked.
We honored my sweet girl’s final wishes of being an organ donor. We have 4 recipients. She gave a 17 year boy a kidney and a bright future in sports. A 22 year old male received a kidney, affording him a 2nd chance at life. A 60 year old man her liver, her sweet heart went to a 50 year women, 2 eye recipients, 125 tissue donations and her thyroid in research. All are thriving and recovering.
Brittany’s decision to be a donor has encouraged her family to become donors. We are very proud of her selfless decision to help others. Even her 4 year old niece knows how important the green bracelet is. She says it’s for “Geegee’s Heart.” Without Lifenet I’m not sure how we would have navigated her loss. Brittany would not have considered herself a Hero but her family and friends do. We are Brittany’s biggest cheerleaders.
We have heard from three of her recipients. It brought us a lot of peace and comfort. We are excited to maybe meet them one day. We will always tell your story of your kindness and selfless final act of love.
